The #1 risk to your appliances!

So what’s the biggest factor that contributes to an appliance not passing a Test and Tag safety check? Physical damage. In fact more than 90% of appliances are failed by technicians while testing and tagging due to exposed wiring, cuts, burns, missing insulation, broken appliance casing etc. Therefore, the visual check is arguably the most important part of the testing and tagging process, identifying damage which could cause fires, power loss and even electrocution!

Here are some examples of physical damage our technicians have identified while testing and tagging:

This lead was failed by one of our technicians, after he identified the active pin to be burned and without the insulation required by Australian Standard 3760.

A burnt pin indicates a loose connection between the pin and its termination within the plug, producing high resistance and heat. By testing and tagging this lead, our technician identified this fault, preventing a potential fire and any injuries that may have occurred from this hazard

Modern appliances have two layers of insulation to ensure that users are safely separated from the live wires running within them. By testing and tagging this item and identifying the break in the outer layer, our technician prevented potential injuries and electrocution that may have occurred from further damage.
